MakeQR

Terms of Service

Questo documento non è ancora disponibile nella tua lingua. Viene mostrata la versione inglese, ed è quella che vale.

In breve

  • Static QR codes are free, need no account and never stop working — the content is in the pattern itself, not on our servers.
  • The Free plan includes 2 dynamic codes, for as long as your account exists. Paid plans are monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
  • If a paid plan ends, 2 codes stay active for free and the rest keep working for 30 days before they are paused. Nothing is deleted.
  • Consumers can withdraw within 14 days of their first payment and get it back in full.
  • You are responsible for where your codes point. Codes used for phishing, malware or anything illegal are switched off.

1. Who you are dealing with

MakeQR (makeqr.ai) is provided by Kunn AS, organisation number 937 941 463, Ekraveien 30, 0756 Oslo, Norway ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hei@makeqr.ai.

These terms apply when you create QR codes on makeqr.ai, create an account, buy a plan, or publish a page. By creating an account or buying a plan, you accept them. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal data and what we store in your browser.

2. What MakeQR is

  • Static QR codes. The content — a link, a WiFi password, a contact card — is encoded directly in the code. They are free, need no account, and keep working whether or not MakeQR exists. We cannot change or switch them off.
  • Dynamic QR codes. The code contains a short link on our domain that sends people on to a destination you choose and can change later. A dynamic code works only while our service runs and the code is active on your account.
  • Hosted pages. On the Pro plan and above, a dynamic code can open a page we host for you: a menu, a PDF or a page of links.
  • Scan statistics. We count scans of your dynamic codes. See section 8 for exactly what we record.

Always scan a code with your own phone before you print it. We check that codes are readable, but printing, material, size and lighting are outside our control.

3. Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, and at least 18 — or have a guardian's consent — to buy a paid plan. If you use MakeQR on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it, and "you" then means that organisation.

Give us a working email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away at hei@makeqr.ai if you believe someone else has access to it.

To prevent abuse, we may require you to confirm your email address before you create dynamic codes, and we may limit how many codes a new account can create in its first day.

4. Plans, prices and payment

The Free plan includes 2 dynamic codes, with no time limit and no card. Paid plans (Starter, Pro and Business) include more codes and features, as described on our pricing page at the time you subscribe.

  • Billing. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until you cancel. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Tax. Prices are shown without VAT or sales tax. Where tax applies, it is added at checkout and shown before you pay.
  • Changing plan. You can move between plans at any time from your dashboard. The difference for the rest of the current month is calculated automatically and added to, or deducted from, your next invoice.
  • Price changes. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a price change takes effect. It applies from your next billing date after that, and you can cancel before then.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, we and Stripe will try again and let you know. If it still has not been paid after the retry period, the subscription ends as described in section 5.

5. Cancelling, and what happens to your codes

You can cancel at any time from your dashboard, under Billing. The plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.

When a paid plan ends:

  • 2 codes stay active, for free, for as long as your account exists. We keep the 2 codes that have been scanned the most. Write to us if you would rather keep others.
  • Every other code keeps working for 30 days. After that it is paused: people who scan it see a neutral page saying the code is not active. No error page, and no advertising.
  • Nothing is deleted. Paused codes keep their destination, design, pages and statistics. Subscribe again and they start working at once, with the same printed code.

Hosted pages (menus, PDFs and link pages) need the Pro plan or above to be published. If one of them is among the codes that stay active, it keeps working.

6. Right of withdrawal for consumers

If you are a consumer in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you may withdraw from a paid plan within 14 days of your first payment for it. Tell us at hei@makeqr.ai — a short message saying that you are withdrawing is enough — and we refund that payment in full, to the same payment method, within 14 days. This goes further than the law requires: you do not pay for the days you used.

Apart from this, and apart from what consumer law gives you, payments for a period that has started are not refunded. If you are a business customer, the right of withdrawal does not apply.

7. Your content and acceptable use

What you put into MakeQR — links, text, menus, files, logos — remains yours. You give us permission to store, process, display and deliver it, only as needed to run the service for you and for the people who scan your codes. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for your content and for where your codes point. You must have the right to use it, and it must be lawful where it is shown. You may not use MakeQR to:

  • send people to phishing, scams, malware or unwanted software, or collect passwords or payment details under false pretences;
  • hide where a link really goes, or pass on redirects from other shortening services;
  • publish content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, that sexualises minors, or that incites violence or hatred;
  • send spam, impersonate someone else, or mislead people about who is behind a code;
  • get around plan limits, overload or probe our systems, or access other users' data.

We check destinations against Google's list of unsafe websites when you save them, and we may refuse destinations that break these rules. If a code breaks them, we may pause or disable it — without notice where that is needed to protect the people scanning it. We will tell you what we did and why, unless the law or an investigation prevents it, and you can object by replying to us. For serious or repeated breaches, we may close the account.

Reporting a code. Anyone can report a MakeQR code or page they believe is illegal or harmful by writing to hei@makeqr.ai with the link and the reason. We review reports promptly and tell the person who reported it what we decided.

8. Scan data: we process it on your behalf

When someone scans one of your dynamic codes, we record the time of the scan, the type of device — iPhone or iPad, Android, or other — the operating system family (such as iOS or Windows), the browser family (such as Safari, Chrome or the Instagram app) and the country. We also count unique scanners per day. We do not store the IP address, city, precise location or identity of the person scanning in our database, and the redirect sets no cookies. Our hosting provider keeps technical request logs for security, as described in the Privacy Policy.

To the extent that this is personal data, you are the controller and we are your processor, and this section is our data processing agreement under Article 28 of the GDPR. We will:

  • process scan data only to provide the service to you, as described in these terms, which are your instructions to us;
  • ensure that everyone who has access to it is bound by confidentiality;
  • protect it with appropriate technical and organisational measures;
  • use only the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy, and give you at least 30 days' notice of a new one, so you can object or end your plan;
  • help you respond to requests from people exercising their rights, and to meet your own security and breach notification obligations;
  • tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a personal data breach affecting your data;
  • delete scan data when you delete the code or your account, unless the law requires us to keep it;
  • make available the information you need to show that these obligations are met.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep MakeQR — and above all the redirects your printed codes rely on — available at all times, but we cannot promise that it will never be interrupted. We may have to carry out maintenance, and we will try to do it when few people are scanning.

We develop the service continuously and may change or remove features. We will not remove a feature from a plan you are paying for during the month you have paid for. If we ever decide to shut MakeQR down, we will tell you at least 90 days in advance and refund any period you have paid for but not received.

10. Our rights

The MakeQR software, design and brand belong to us. The QR codes you create are yours to use freely, including commercially, for as long as you like. You may not copy, resell or reverse engineer the service itself.

QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

11. Liability

We provide MakeQR with care, but as it is. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost profits, lost data, or the cost of reprinting material — unless it results from our gross negligence or intent.

Our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence, intent or personal injury, and nothing limits the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using MakeQR at any time, and ask us to delete your account by writing to hei@makeqr.ai from the email address on the account. We delete it, with its codes, pages and files, within 30 days. Deleted dynamic codes stop working and cannot be restored, so make sure nothing printed still depends on them.

We may end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we end it without it being your fault, we refund any period you have paid for but not received.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you by email or in the dashboard at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you can cancel before then; if you keep using MakeQR after that date, the new terms apply. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Please contact us first — most things can be solved with an email.

If you are a business customer, disputes go to Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett). If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts there. Consumers can also ask the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) to mediate, or use the consumer dispute bodies of their own country.
