QR codes in other tools
Step-by-step guides for the apps you already use
Many tools you already use can make a QR code: design apps, browsers, office software, shop builders. Each guide below shows the built-in way first, honestly, and then where a dedicated generator helps — SVG for print, a logo that still scans, or a code you can re-point later.

QR Code for Firefox
Firefox has no built-in QR code generator; MakeQR fills the gap as a web page, not a browser extension. Paste your link and the code renders inside the tab as you type; a static code never touches a server. Firefox users get a free static code forever, or a dynamic one that can be repointed later without reprinting anything.
QR Code Generator for Adobe
Adobe Express has a built-in QR code generator; Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator don't have an equivalent tool. For a PDF form, a flyer in Photoshop, or vector artwork in Illustrator, generate the code on a separate site first, then place it as an image or vector object the same way you'd add any other graphic.
QR Code Generator for Adobe Express
Adobe Express has a built-in QR code generator: add it as a design element, paste your link, and download the result. It covers a plain link with basic styling. For a WiFi network, a contact card, more color and logo control, or scan tracking, a separate generator fills the gap and drops back into Express as an image.
QR Code Generator for Bitly
Bitly has its own QR code tool built around its shortened links: shorten a link, then generate a code from it inside the same dashboard. It bundles Bitly's click analytics, including location data, which MakeQR's dynamic codes deliberately don't collect. For styling, a logo, or privacy-conscious scan stats, build from your original link instead of a Bitly short link.
QR Code Generator for Canva
Canva has a QR code generator built into the editor: search "QR code" in the elements panel, paste a link, and it drops onto the page as a live element. It only handles plain links, with narrower colors, and exports at whatever resolution the design uses, not its own file. A separate generator adds SVG export and a logo.
QR Code Generator for Chrome
Chrome has a built-in way to turn the open page into a QR code: look for an icon at the right end of the address bar, or right-click and choose the option to create one. It covers only the tab's link, no styling, no other data types, no way to track scans — a separate generator covers the rest.
QR Code Generator for Excel
Excel has no built-in QR code feature. A single cell's link can be turned into one code on any generator, but a spreadsheet with a list — inventory items, asset tags, event links — is better handled by a bulk generator that reads the whole column at once and returns one code per row.
QR Code Generator for Figma
Figma has no built-in QR generator, though its Community has third-party plugins that add one. The more reliable option is generating an SVG code elsewhere and pasting it directly into a Figma file — Figma reads pasted SVG markup as native, editable vector layers, ready to resize or recolor, with no plugin required at all.
QR Code Generator for Google Sheets
Google Sheets has no native QR code function. A formula using an external chart-image API can render a code inside a cell, but it depends on that third-party service staying online. Exporting the sheet as CSV and running it through a bulk generator produces the same result more reliably, with one static code per row.
QR Code Generator for Illustrator
Illustrator has no built-in QR generator, but its vector engine is the best fit for one: an SVG QR code placed and embedded stays true vector art in the document, scales to any size in a print layout without rasterizing, and can be recolored using Illustrator's own swatches once ungrouped.
QR Code Generator for InDesign
MakeQR has no InDesign plugin, but it generates the SVG file InDesign needs for a code that prints sharp at any size. Build the code, download it as SVG, then use File > Place to add it as a vector graphic instead of a raster image. Free, no account, and it works with any InDesign version that opens SVG.
QR Code Generator for Jotform
Jotform generates a QR code for any form automatically: open the Publish tab and look for the QR Code option to download one. It's plain and fixed to that link. For your own colors, a logo, or a code not tied to Jotform, build one separately and embed it into the form as an image.
QR Code Generator for Linux
MakeQR runs in any browser on Linux — Firefox, Chromium, GNOME Web — nothing to install, since it's a web app rather than desktop software. Most distributions don't ship a graphical QR code generator by default, though a command-line tool such as qrencode is available in most package managers for scripting. The browser is the simpler route for everyday use.
QR Code Generator for Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge has a built-in way to turn the page you're viewing into a QR code, reachable from an icon near the address bar or the share option. It covers only the open tab's link, with no styling, other data types, or scan tracking. For anything printed or branded, a separate generator picks up from there.
QR Code Generator for PowerPoint
PowerPoint has no built-in QR code generator. A code made elsewhere is inserted as a picture: current versions accept SVG through Insert > Pictures and keep it sharp when a slide is zoomed in or projected large on a screen, while older versions need a PNG exported at high resolution to avoid visible pixelation.
QR Code Generator for Shopify
Shopify generates a QR code automatically for any discount code: open the discount in your admin and look for the QR code option shown there. It's built for applying a discount at checkout, not a general store link. For a product page or your own branding, build a separate code and add it as an image.
QR Code Generator for Squarespace
Squarespace's site editor has no QR code element, unlike some competing builders. A code made separately, pointing at any live Squarespace page, downloads as an SVG or PNG and adds through the same image block used for any other graphic — no plugin or code injection required.
QR Code Generator for Vistaprint
Vistaprint's design tool has a QR code element you can drop onto a card, flyer or sign, but it only links to a URL and can't be edited once the order ships. A code made separately and uploaded as an image gives you WiFi, contact details, a logo and vector output the built-in element doesn't offer.
QR Code Generator for Wix
Wix's site editor doesn't include a general-purpose QR code generator of its own — some Wix App Market listings offer one, usually with a subscription and limited styling. Copy your published site's URL, or a specific page's link, and build the code on a separate generator instead, then upload the result to Wix's media manager and place it like any other image.
QR Code Generator for Word
Word for Windows can draw a plain QR code through the DisplayBarcode field code, but there is no button for it and no design options. For a code with colors or a logo, make it in a generator and place it with Insert > Pictures; recent versions accept SVG and keep it sharp at any size.
QR Code Generator for WordPress
WordPress core has no QR code feature, and its Media Library blocks SVG uploads by default for security reasons. A PNG code uploads and displays normally through the block editor's Image block; SVG needs either a security-vetted plugin that allows the format or embedding through a Custom HTML block instead.
