QR code uses

What people put behind a QR code, and how to make each one

Every page below is about one thing a QR code can open: a profile, a booking page, a playlist, a memorial page, a pet's contact card. Each one covers what the code should contain, where it goes, how big to print it and the mistakes that make it fail. The generator on every page opens set up for that use.

What can a QR code link to?

A QR code can link to a website, a payment page, a contact card, a booking calendar, a form, a document, or a WiFi network, among other destinations. The pattern itself only stores text or a link; MakeQR does not host pages beyond menus, PDFs and link pages on its paid plan. Pick the destination first, then match the code type to it.

Can one QR code point to more than one link?

No. A single QR code stores one destination: one web address, one contact card, or one block of text. To offer several options, such as a set of profiles or resources, use a link page listing multiple destinations, or print separate codes for each one. A static code cannot be edited to add more links later.

How durable does a QR code need to be for outdoor or permanent use?

A code meant to last, such as one etched on a headstone or printed on a collar tag, should use a durable material like engraved metal, ceramic or laminated vinyl rather than plain paper. The destination itself needs no attention, since a static code never expires, but the printed surface has to survive weather and handling for years.

Does a QR code work without an internet connection?

The phone camera reads the pattern itself without a connection, but opening most destinations, a website, a payment page or a booking form, requires internet access afterward. A WiFi code and a plain-text or contact-card code are exceptions, since their content displays or connects directly on the phone with no network needed at all.
